Muslim women do not need saving. We do not need to be ‘liberated’ or ‘rescued’ either (and definitely not by some white saviour).We hold the keys to our own empowerment.But those keys might be different to the ones that unlocked greater freedom and equality for our white Western counterparts (and let’s not kid ourselves, no society on this Earth is free from patriarchal oppression just yet).If we don't confront the patriarchy inside ourselves, we have no hope of challenging the patriarchy 'out there'- in our marriages, in our homes, in our extended families, in our communities, in our religious institutions , in our governments.The patriarchy is everywhere, and it impacts every facet of our existence as women. But, because this phenomenon is so ubiquitous, we often don't see it.&nbsp; (A bit like that saying about fish not being able to see water). When it’s all around you and you are literally immersed in it, you can’t even see it, let alone name it or call it out.And if you don’t UNDERSTAND what has happened to you, when there is no name for this&nbsp;experience of being a woman in this world, then women think that it must be just them, or their fault, or that they are going mad - and this is exactly how so many women feel because this is what the patriarchal narrative tells us.But it’s not just you, you’re not mad, and it’s not your fault.It is the fault of a SYSTEM that was designed to keep you small and manageable, to silence you, to dry you out, to make you forget the truth of your Divinity, even to break you.&nbsp;So what do we need to do empower ourselves, to heal, to grow and to rise into who we are truly meant to be? &nbsp;We need to NAME what we are going through.We need to FEEL the pain of it, and what that has meant for our lives.We need to be WITNESSED by other women who also feel your pain.We need to HEAL in community from this patriarchal wound.Imagine this: armed with knowledge and deep understanding, and with our Sisters all around us for support, we go on an inward journey to heal all the places in our lives where we gave our power away, or had it taken from us unwillingly. With holistic, feminine healing modalities that are in line with our faith, we can pour balm on the open wounds of a lack of self-love, disappointment, powerlessness, voicelessness and injustice.And then, we can begin to find our voices. To speak our truth, to know exactly who we are and what have to offer this world - as well as what we want from this one ‘wild and precious life’.We can identify our needs, our hopes and desires, and take steps to have them met.&nbsp; We can articulate our boundaries, manage our energy, care deeply for our bodies, minds and spirits in a way that honours the cycles and demands of living in a feminine body in a masculine world.We can deepen our connection to the Divine, as we step out of tiny hard-edged boxes of ‘should’ and ‘must’, of punishment and judgement, and into an expansive space of pure Love, Beauty, Truth, Peace and Devotion. Our relationships can blossom, embodying justice, equality and reciprocity (or gracefully let go of them if they no longer serve us). We can contribute to society, our families and the Earth from a place of overflowing love, abundance and courage. I have been down this path, and can gratefully share that this is where I now am. I am bursting at the seams with all the empowering knowledge I have gained over the past 15 years of my spiritual and educational journey - and all I want now is to witness the healing and growth of every other Muslim woman, to watch you RISE. So with love and eagerness, I invite you join me in a circle of Rising Sisters, to hold and nurture you through this transformational process.&nbsp;You will find what you have been looking for, even if you don’t know what that is yet.If you are feeling broken, stuck or lost - step into our circle and find a sanctuary.
